SUMMARY OF POSITION

The Youth Advocate directly reports to the Program Director and plays a key role in executing the Director's instructions related to the administration of the gang prevention program. This includes overseeing program monitoring and evaluation, which involves conducting monthly, quarterly, semiannual, and annual audits, as well as managing parent/caregiver surveys and stakeholder surveys. The Youth Advocate is also responsible for the administration of pre- and post-assessments and the collection of relevant data to support program objectives.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

• Manage initial enrollment processes, assist in developing individual youth development plans, handle application submissions, and identify the specific needs of youth and their families

• Administer pre-, mid-, and post-assessments, as well as quarterly surveys to gauge program progress

• Act as an advocate for both the youth and their families, ensuring they receive culturally and age-appropriate youth development services

• Prepare and gather daily, weekly, and monthly session summary sheets, maintain and update youth development plans, facilitate program schedules, and support data collection and feedback as required by the monitoring and evaluation program

• Regularly visit the youth's school during their regular school day program

• Conduct home visits on a regular basis when deemed appropriate

• Retrieve incident reports, academic results, and surveys from the youth's school, parents, and social affiliations

• Input observations, exercise results, notes, and other relevant data into the tracking system

• Report any issues, incidents, or problems to the youth's parents or caregivers and, when necessary, to the administration

• Interact with the youth's school, parents or caregivers, and role models

• Make referrals to and receive referrals from collaborative partners such as mental health, physical activity, educational services, counseling, and therapy services, among others

• Prepare sign-in sheets for youth and collaborative partners to track participation

• Keep a record of the work conducted by collaborative partners and ensure their active involvement in program implementation

• Observe sessions between youth and collaborative partners to maintain program quality

• Prioritize the safety and well-being of the youth

• Fulfill any other duties as requested or required by the organization

QUALIFICATIONS

Education/Training:

• Bachelor's degree in a related field, such as social work, psychology, education, or a related discipline, which provides a foundation for understanding youth development

• Minimum of 1 year of experience working with at-risk youth

• Proficiency in Spanish is preferred

• Must have a valid driver's license, maintain a clean driving record, and have access to personal transportation

• Maintain a clean criminal record as a requirement for this role

Salary is based on experience and qualifications.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Must possess a valid California Driver's License.

Due to our in-person and in office work with LAUSD, City of LA, County of LA and other work partners that require our team to be vaccinated we require that all potential candidates must be COVID-19 vaccinated with either, Pfizer, Moderna or Johnson & Johnson.

WORKING CONDITIONS WHILE PERFORMING ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND EQUIPMENT USED

The successful candidate will be required to report to and work from the office complex at least five days a week. Offices are traditionally equipped with computers, telephones, desks, chairs, and office machines. Additionally, each office offers an instructional classroom from which orientations and trainings are conducted.

SALARY RANGE:

Benefits and salary will be negotiated based on experience, education, and the needs of the program.

Must be available to work Monday/Tuesday/Thursday/Friday from 9:00am – 5:30pm and Wednesday 12:00 pm - 8:30 pm
