Job Description

Garden Center Assistant Manager Location Fresno, CA (West area) :

At Belmont Nursery, we are looking for a positive, energetic person to help lead our skilled retail sales staffs. We know that you are half full rather than half empty, have several years of sales and management experience, are looking at a career rather than just a job and will fit into the creative culture of our management team.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist to coordinate, train and oversee the retail sales staff which include the Lead Cashier and the members of the retail team.
  • Communicate sales goals, upcoming events, sale items and any other pertinent information addressing sales and customer service to the retail staff.
  • Assist in training staff on customer service skills, product knowledge and other items related to sales and customer service.
  • Support the retail sales staff with event management including Christmas wreath making workshops, pruning workshops, hands on succulent bowl making, low water use landscape designs, lush desert designs and others.
  • Assist in developing retail staffing schedules in conjunction with our payroll budget.
  • Oversee buying, stocking and pricing retail merchandise.
  • Assist in developing and tracking individual goals for the sales staff. Set attainable goals that are motivating and fun to achieve.
  • Work with vendors in regards to new products or promotions.
  • Provide customer service to garden center customers. Provide them with cultural and practical information in order to make them successful.
  • Open and/or close the retail store as needed.
  • Handle all types of cashiering transactions accurately.
  • Assist in maintaining plant material in the nursery.
  • Support office staff with customers when needed.
  • Other duties as needed.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $17.00 - $20.00 per hour

Expected hours: 32 - 45 per week

  • sales: 5 years (Preferred)
  • formal horticulture: 3 years (Preferred)

License/Certification:

  • California driver's license (Preferred)
