Contract Duration: 13 weeks

Shift: Night Shift | 5x8-Hour (12:00 AM – 8:30 AM)

Weekly Breakdown:
Weekly Gross: $2,370.00 Per Week 
On W2(Taxable): $760.00 Per Week 
Stipend(Non-Taxable): $1,610.00 Per Week 

Job Summary: We are seeking an experienced Histology Technician to join our team at Providence Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital . This is a travel assignment for 13 weeks with the possibility of extension. The Histotech will be responsible for preparing tissue samples for microscopic examination, including processing, embedding, microtomy, and staining, with an emphasis on high-quality, timely service delivery.

Requirements:

• Valid CA License
• Minimum Experience: 2 years as a Histology Technician
• Travel Experience: Required
• Certifications:
  • ASCP-HT (Required)
• Education: Associate’s Degree or equivalent in Histology or a related field

Skills & Responsibilities:

Histology Core Duties:

• Grossing & Fixation:
  • Use of additive fixatives, decalcification, and fixation techniques
  • Handling core biopsies, excision specimens, and frozen sections*
• Embedding & Microtomy:
  • Use of both automated/manual microtomes
  • Embedding large/small specimens, skin, GI, and hard tissue
  • Paraffin wax sections, precision microtomy
• Tissue Processing:
  • Use of automatic tissue processors, microwave processing
  • Handling calcified/decalcified tissues
• Staining:
  • H&E, PAS, Giemsa, IHC, special stains (manual & automated)*
  • Cytoplasmic and nuclear stains, artifact identification

Cytology Skills (Required):

• Specimen handling: Ascitic fluid, bronchial, esophageal, urine, spinal
• Preparation: Filer prep, staining (PAP, IRON, GMS), use of Cytolyt, Carbowax
