Proofreader / Quality Assurance

At Tonic3 , were searching for a Proofreader to join our integrated in-house agency, where creatives and client partners collaborate to deliver exceptional work. As the final line of defense before content reaches audiences nationwide, youll play a critical role in ensuring every piece is accurate, consistent, and aligned with brand voice.

Position Overview: The Proofreader ensures that all written content is accurate, polished, and consistent across multiple channels, including client communications, marketing collateral, social media, direct mail, and more. Youll act as a guardian of grammar, style, and brand voice, collaborating closely with writers, designers, and project managers to maintain high editorial standards in a fast-paced environment.

Salary: $70,000 - $90,000 per year.

This range is aligned with market rates for Mid-Senior Proofreader roles across our hiring locations. While the range is competitive for in-house and mid-sized teams, final compensation will be determined based on a candidates skills, experience, and the value they bring to the role, with flexibility to recognize unique strengths and expertise.

Location:

  • Schaumburg, IL (3 days per week in the office, 2 days remote).

What Youll Do:

  • Review copy across print and digital deliverables to ensure grammatical, spelling, and stylistic accuracy.
  • Enforce internal style guides and brand voice across all materials.
  • Provide clear, constructive feedback to writers and designers on content improvements.
  • Identify inconsistencies, errors, and potential risks in creative materials before release.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to maintain quality standards under tight deadlines.
  • Participate in brainstorming sessions and suggest innovative approaches to elevate copy quality and audience engagement.
  • Ensure deliverables comply with accessibility standards (ADA) where applicable.
  • Track and manage proofreading workflows efficiently across multiple projects.

Who You Are:

  • 5+ years of expert-level proofreading experience.
  • Bachelors degree in English, Journalism, Communications, or a related field.
  • Strong command of AP Style, grammar, punctuation, and spelling.
  • Experienced in reviewing content for multiple channels, including print, email, social, and digital.
  • Highly detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills.
  • Collaborative, able to communicate clearly and professionally with writers, designers, and stakeholders.
  • Comfortable working under tight deadlines with multiple concurrent projects.
  • Naturally curious and eager to understand the clients products, services, and audiences.
  • Previous experience in an agency or financial setting is preferred.
