Job Description

Principal Environmental Consultant Department: Consulting Employment Type: Permanent - Full Time Location: Houston - Texas Description Lummus Consultants International is looking for an experienced Environmental Social & Governance Consultant to support our Process and Power consulting businesses and to grow our Decarbonization business. This new Decarbonization practice encompasses Carbon Solutions (strategies to reduce and capture greenhouse gases) and Clean Fuels (hydrogen, biofuels, etc.). The team works with Lummus Consultants existing global practice areas, with the aim to provide more focused emphasis and growth in this important part of the global Energy Transition. The individual will also interact with Lummus Consultants' parent organization, Lummus Technology. Lummus Consultants is an autonomous international business within Lummus Technology that provides technical due diligence to lenders, investors, owners, sellers, buyers and project developers. We have work in a broad range of technologies, particularly in energy - offshore and onshore oil & gas, LNG, pipelines, power generation and transmission, as well as refining and petrochemicals. These technical due diligence efforts often require environmental and social due diligence as a complimentary service. The ideal candidate for this position will have a strong interest and broad knowledge of environmental issues, regulations, and technologies. The highly self-motivated candidate should also possess strong written and verbal communication skills, an interest in managing projects and clients, and a desire to grow our consulting business. The individual we are seeking must be comfortable and confident to work in a seller/doer organization structure. Key Responsibilities A strong engineering background with a broad knowledge of the technologies utilized in the Process and Power Industry Broad experience in energy and water/wastewater infrastructure assets over multiple industries to evaluate the reasonableness of proposed capital projects based on past experience; Ability to differentiate and prioritize opportunities with real short-to-medium term potential for future consulting assignments. Conduct research and stay abreast of new technology solutions in the market; Perform high level screening of decarbonization options to assist clients with options to reduce their carbon footprint. Participate in consulting project work. Work primarily as a team member but also as a team lead, or independently, in a wide range of consulting assignments - flexibility is needed. Prepare clear and concise written reports on assignments, develop conclusions and assist/lead in presenting verbal results to clients. Lead business development, marketing and proposal preparation efforts expanding the current portfolio of services that Lummus Consultants offers. Achieve objectives with minimal oversight. Report to the Directors of Lummus Consultants Power and Process business lines. Skills, Knowledge & Expertise Bachelor's degree in Engineering. Graduate Degree in Environmental Engineering is a plus. Minimum 10 years relevant professional experience. Previous experience with technical and environmental due diligence assignments; Previous experience with decarbonization projects, specifically related to RNG, renewable power generation, and water infrastructure. Strong verbal skills and previous position(s) with some client interaction; Strong written communication skills, including the ability to write clear and concise reports; Strong interpersonal skills and an ability to interact with peers and clients from different nationalities and cultural backgrounds; Good computer literacy - Word, PowerPoint Excel, PRO II and/or Aspen Plus. Office location and travel: Houston, TX office. Job-related travel will be required. Typically, travel is less than 20 percent per year and most trips are less than one week. Lummus Technology
