Position: Packaging Development Engineer

Location: Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

Type: Long-Term Contract

Summary:

Seeking an experienced Packaging Engineer to design and develop primary and secondary packaging for combination products and medical devices. The role supports regulatory compliance, product performance, and cross-functional collaboration across R&D, Quality, Manufacturing, and Supply Chain.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop compliant packaging systems, including sterile barrier solutions.
• Maintain Design History Files (DHF) and risk assessments (e.g., FMEA).
• Coordinate package testing and validation with labs.
• Collaborate with internal teams and external partners.
• Generate technical documentation and support audits.
• Drive improvements in materials, processes, and compliance.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s in Packaging, Mechanical, Biomedical, or related engineering field (Master’s preferred).
• 5+ years in packaging development for medical, pharma, or combination products.
• Knowledge of ISO 11607 and FDA/ISO-regulated environments.
• Strong documentation and communication skills.

Preferred:

• Familiarity with global standards (ASTM, ISTA, ISO).
• Self-starter with strong problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work both independently and in hybrid teams.
