Overview POSITION TITLE: EMT-Intermediate DEPARTMENT: Medical NATURE OF POSITION: The EMT-Intermediate provides advanced pre-hospital emergency care. The EMT-Intermediate performs basic life support interventions, ensuring prompt and effective care for athletes experiencing medical emergencies or traumatic injury. Minimum qualifications High school diploma or GED. Current Oklahoma EMT-Intermediate license issued by the Oklahoma Department of Health – EMS Division. Current BLS certification. Physical ability to lift/carry athletes and equipment. Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills. Ability to travel as needed and work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays based on game and travel schedules. Responsibilities Respond promptly to emergencies and/or injuries; provide care according to EMT-I protocols for athletes. Provide athletic training support services for student-athletes and sports teams, including evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation of sports-related injuries. Follow injury prevention programs and maintain up-to-date records of all injuries, treatments, and rehabilitation plans. Travel with sports teams to all away games and ensure readiness to provide emergency medical support during travel and competition. Attend and actively participate in all home games, daily practices, and scheduled team athletic training operations. Maintain compliance with all federal and state healthcare regulations, HIPAA requirements, and FQHC standards. Assess athletes’ conditions and administer appropriate interventions. Perform basic life support (BLS) procedures within scope of practice. Document care, treatments, and interventions accurately and promptly. Communicate effectively with medical care team (hospital staff as necessary, and other emergency personnel). Maintain equipment and supplies in operational condition. Participate in continuing education, skills refreshers, and mandatory training programs. Organization Exhibits enthusiasm, a positive attitude, and professionalism in the workplace.
