Role Overview:

Korn Ferry is partnering with a publicly traded client to recruit an AVP, Employee Relations. This officer-level role will lead and manage all aspects of Employee Relations, ensuring the effective execution of both strategic and operational objectives. The position plays a key role in aligning Employee Relations practices with the company’s risk management approach, while working to minimize potential legal exposures and associated costs.

Additional responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Drives strategic objectives that have a significant impact on the short-term success of Employee Relations, ensuring this company is well-positioned in matters of compliance, risk management, and business outcomes.
  • Provides leadership and guidance on complex employee relations issues, collaborating with employees, senior leadership, legal, HR business partners, and external employee representatives as needed. Works to deliver solutions that achieve optimal business results, build consensus, and resolve matters efficiently.
  • Leads end-to-end investigations of employee complaints involving leadership-level employees — from intake and investigation planning to fact-finding, interviews, documentation, summary reporting, recommendations, alignment on outcomes, and communication of results.
  • Serves as a subject matter expert, advising leaders, HRBPs, and HR Centers of Excellence on complex employee relations matters, risk mitigation strategies, and conflict resolution. Provides specialized support for officer-level performance and conduct issues, as well as complex leave of absence and reasonable accommodation cases, acting as a center of excellence in these areas.
  • Conducts legal and strategic reviews of proposed reductions-in-force and reorganizations, drafts separation agreements for leadership-level employees, and negotiates severance packages.
  • Maintains current knowledge of evolving federal, state, and local employment laws, and periodically updates company policies and employment agreements to ensure compliance.
  • Leads special projects related to employee relations, leave of absence administration, and HR compliance.

Requirements:

  • J.D. degree required
  • 10+ years of employee relations experience
  • Must be willing to work on-site 3 or more days per week
