Job Description:
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our actuarial team as an Actuarial Analyst. This role is ideal for recent graduates or early-career professionals pursuing actuarial credentials. You will support pricing initiatives, product development and valuation efforts that contribute to the financial health and strategic decision-making of our life and annuity product portfolio. This position is fully in office, located downtown Kansas City, MO.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the pricing and design of new life insurance products, including term, whole life, universal life, indexed UL, fixed indexed annuities and fixed annuities.
- Support experience studies and assumption development for mortality, lapse, and expense trends.
- Contribute to the preparation of actuarial models for product profitability, cash flow testing, and reserve calculations.
- Collaborate internally with multiple departments to support product launches and enhancements.
- Help prepare regulatory filings and documentation for state departments of insurance.
- Participate in the development, maintenance and improvement of actuarial tools and automation processes.
- Progress toward actuarial credentials through exam support and professional development.
Experience and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, or a related field.
- Completion of at least one Society of Actuaries (SOA) exam (preferred).
- Strong analytical, conceptual-thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in Excel; experience with actuarial software (e.g. AXIS, Prophet) and programming languages (e.g. SQL, Python, R) is a plus.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.
Preferred Skills:
- Internship or prior experience in life insurance or actuarial work.
- Familiarity with life insurance products and regulatory environment.
- Exposure to valuation principles and financial reporting frameworks (e.g., GAAP, statutory).
