Position Summary: The Class A Lineman Transmission is a skilled role involving construction, maintenance, and repair of electrical transmission systems at various locations. The position may require travel to different states based on customer demands. Essential Functions: Work safely during construction, maintenance, or repair of energized and de-energized transmission systems. Lead crew members in the absence of the Foreman. String overhead wire, set poles and anchors, troubleshoot transmission issues. Work with high voltage systems, requiring safety and skill to prevent injuries. Maintain company vehicles, tools, and equipment. Perform all related tasks necessary to complete projects. Work outdoors, often in bad weather, and perform physical labor. Identify transmission primary and secondary voltages. Proficient in transmission line work, hot stick work, blueprint reading, wire sagging, and assembly of structures. Understand dead ending, sagging operations, hot line work, and operation of heavy equipment like digger derricks. Gain knowledge in bare hand work at 44KV & 100KV, pole/tower climbing, rigging, grounding, and induced voltage safety procedures. Work at heights and in confined spaces, properly install and remove PPE, climb various structures, and perform line phasing and tensioning. Plan safe work procedures, understand minimum approach distances, flagging, and perform rescue operations. Conduct pre-job briefings, perform reconductoring, and inspect safety gear. Minimum Requirements: At least 5 years of recent field experience. Effective communication skills in English. Ability to obtain a Commercial Driver’s License permit within 60 days (preferred to have a CDL). Willingness to travel, work extended hours, and lift over 50 lbs. Willing to work high voltage lines with gloves and PPE, including weekends and holidays. Physical Demands: Regular talking, hearing, standing, walking, handling, and reaching are required to perform essential job functions effectively. Work Environment: Mostly outside, with potential exposure to fumes, dust, gases, and poor ventilation, but not typically in adverse conditions like an office. Competencies: Self-motivated, team-oriented, customer-focused. Adherence to safety rules and company policies.
